Jamie Ding continues to make his way up the “Jeopardy!” all-time leaderboard, notching his 25th straight victory in Thursday’s episode.
The Metro Detroit native has now been the show’s reigning champion for five full weeks.
How much has he won?
Ding won another $35,000 on Thursday’s show.
He finished ahead of Erin Adams, a community college professor from Orlando, who won $7,599, and Andrew Younger, a nonprofit director from San Diego, who finished with $6,200.
Ding’s latest win brings him to a 25-day total of $702,000. He ranks sixth in terms of all-time winnings on the show, according to The Jeopardy! Fan, an online database dedicated to “Jeopardy!” statistics.
What’s next?
Ding will go for win No. 26 on Friday’s episode, which in Detroit airs on WDIV-TV (Channel 4) at 7:30 p.m. The show also streams on Hulu and Peacock.
He needs another $46,286 to surpass Cris Pannullo for fifth most winnings in the long-running TV game show’s history. He needs 32 straight wins to move into a tie for fourth-most victories on “Jeopardy!”
The records for most “Jeopardy!” victories and most money won are both held by current host Ken Jennings, who won an incredible 74 straight games in 2004, earning him more than $2.5 million.
Who is Jamie Ding?
Ding is a 2009 graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School, where he was a successful quiz tournament participant and honor student who graduated a year early.
Ding’s father, Yuchuan Ding, is a professor of neurosurgery at Wayne State. His mother, Ning Yan, is a retired teacher who worked in the Detroit public school system.
Jamie Ding graduated from Princeton University in 2013 with a degree in molecular biology.
Now a bureaucrat and law student, he currently resides in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
