Ingham County man with 8 prior OWI offenses arrested again for impaired driving

DELHI TWP. — A 60-year-old Ingham County man who police said had eight prior intoxicated driving convictions was arrested June 26 on suspicion of operating while intoxicated after police said he drove onto sidewalk and into oncoming traffic on Holt Road and then fled from officers.

The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office in a statement did not identify the man but said deputies were dispatched to the 4400 block of Holt Road, east of Aurelius Road, because of the man’s reckless driving, at about 6:45 p.m.

“Witnesses reported that the vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and into oncoming traffic,” the sheriff’s office said in a release. “Deputies tried to stop the car near Edgar and Howell, but the driver fled.”

Deputies were able to locate the vehicle in the 200 block of North Aurelius Road, south of the township, and the driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

“The investigation will be turned over to the Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible additional felony charges of Flee and Elude, and Resisting Arrest,” officials said in the statement. “The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the concerned citizens who reported this dangerous driver.”
