Drivers taking Interstate 94 west of Detroit will notice lane restrictions and ramp closures starting this weekend.
The work is part of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s “Restore 94” project, which aims to repair about 13 miles of the freeway roughly between Detroit Metro Airport and the Dearborn-Detroit border at Michigan Avenue.
Some of the traffic restrictions will last into the fall season while others are just for a few days.
MDOT began planning “Restore 94” in 2024. Work is expected to continue along the freeway for the next two years and wrap up during summer 2028, according to the agency.
Officials said the project will “improve the road, extend its life and enhance traffic flow.”
