Human remains found in Chippewa County, few details available as investigation continues

Human remains have been found north of Paradise in Chippewa County, and few details are available as the investigation continues.

Chippewa County Sheriff Mike Bitnar told the Soo Leader on Tuesday, May 19 there is an ongoing investigation into the remains with the assistance of the Michigan State Police Crime Lab and Sault Ste. Marie City Police.

Lt. Benjamin Eckola from the Michigan State Police Eighth District confirmed their assistance and said there is no danger to the public. A representative from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department said the information previously distributed to news outlets is all that will be released for now while the investigation continues.
