There’s new ownership at Hog Wild BBQ, but customers can expect the same menu, staff and operations that have made the restaurant a local staple for nearly two decades in Holland.
Jason VanderKlok took over the barbecue restaurant at 154 W. Lakewood Blvd. alongside two silent partners in March. VanderKlok, originally from Kalamazoo, attended Hope College and most recently worked at Haworth.
“It’s been great,” VanderKlok told The Sentinel. “We have a great staff, great menu and great system, which is why we were so attracted to it. The Overways had a great business model … they knew how to set up a business for success.”
VanderKlok said he’s long been interested in entrepreneurship, but expected to eventually own a manufacturing-related business. The opportunity to acquire an established and well-known restaurant changed those plans.
“A restaurant wasn’t really on our radar, but when we saw it and heard about it, we did a lot of research,” VanderKlok told The Sentinel. “We figured we’d give it a shot.”
VanderKlok emphasized customers will find the same menu and, for the most part, the same staff members. The business offers dine-in, carryout, catering and bulk purchasing, with popular items like bone-in smoked wings, sandwiches, baby back ribs, and hot and cold sides.
“We appreciate all the help and support we’ve gotten so far,” VanderKlok said. “We always welcome people to come in and we want to offer good, quality food at an affordable price.”
