The road to Battle Creek for Sturgis-area high school volleyball teams begins next week.
The Michigan High School Athletic Association has announced district brackets, and action is set to take place beginning Monday, Nov. 3, across the state.
Action will take place nearly every day next week, with several districts playing on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and others playing on Tuesday and Thursdays. Here’s where each of the local volleyball teams will be playing, and what times.
Division 1 at Portage Central
Sturgis will be playing in the District 12 tournament. It’s being hosted by Portage Central, and the Trojans will be taking on Battle Creek Lakeview on Wednesday, Nov. 5. That match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
On Monday, Nov. 3 in the same district, Coldwater will be playing Battle Creek Central at 5 p.m. The winner of that match will take on Portage Central, which follows the Lakeview-Sturgis matchup.
Division 2 at Vicksburg
Three Rivers will open the playoffs on Nov. 5 against Paw Paw in the District 46 tournament at Vicksburg.
Harper Creek and Battle Creek Pennfield will play in the opening match on Monday, Nov. 3, the winner of that matchup will play host Vicksburg in the second matchup on Wednesday.
Division 3 at Bronson
Bronson is hosting the District 80 tournament.
The Vikings are playing on Wednesday, Nov. 5, against the winner of Centreville and Homer, which will play on Nov. 3 at 5:30 p.m.
In the opposite side of the bracket, Quincy and Union City play at Bronson on Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. The winner of that will play Galesburg-Augusta on Wednesday in the second matchup.
Division 3 at Constantine
Constantine will be hosting the District 78 tournament.
The Falcons play Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 5:30 p.m. against either Cassopolis or Niles Brandywine.
White Pigeon will host Bridgman on Monday, Nov. 3, in the district opener at 6 p.m., with the winner of that matchup taking on the winner of Decatur-Three Oaks River Valley in the second matchup on Wednesday in Constantine.
Division 4 at Colon
Four area teams are in this district. Top-ranked Mendon will play Marcellus Howardsville Christian in the opener on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 5:30 p.m., while Colon and Burr Oak will follow. The winners will play Thursday, Nov. 6, at Colon for the title.
Division 4 at St. Joseph Lake Michigan Catholic
Marcellus is in the District 114 tournament. The Wildcats play St. Joseph Lake Michigan Lutheran in the first matchup on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 5:30 p.m. Eau Claire and host Lake Michigan Catholic will follow.
