HILLSDALE COUNTY — Municipalities, churches, nonprofits and businesses are solidifying their plans for Halloween.
According to Hillsdale City Police Chief Scott Hephner, safety tips include wearing reflective material after dark and supervising minors. The department will patrol high-traffic areas during trick-or-treating to ensure safety.
Throughout the county, official trick or treat dates and times include:
Saturday, Oct. 18
Village of Montgomery: 4-6 p.m.
The Hillsdale American Legion, Hillsdale Business Association and Hillsdale Township Firefighters Association will also host a countywide trunk or treat at the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds running 5-7 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 25
Reading: 4-6 p.m.
There will be a costume contest at the Michigan Street Pavilion, festivities at the Reading Fire Department and an annual Halloween Parade at 7 p.m.
Camden: 5-7 p.m.
There will be a party at the fire department with hot dogs, donuts and cider running 7-9 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 31
Jonesville: 5:30-8 p.m.
There will be festivities at Carl Fast Park and the Jonesville Fire Department. The Woodbridge Township Fire Department in Frontier is also planning a trunk or treat running 5-7 p.m.
Litchfield, North Adams and Waldron: 5-7 p.m.
Hillsdale and Somerset Center: 6-8 p.m.
The Somerset Township Fire Department is organizing a trunk or treat running 6-7:30 p.m.
