Twenty years to the day a Livingston County boys basketball team last won 13 consecutive games, Hartland extended its streak to a baker’s dozen on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
With a 53-30 victory over Plymouth, Hartland became the first county team to win 13 straight games since Brighton did so from Dec. 6, 2005 to Feb. 3, 2006.
At 15-1, Hartland is off to its best start since the 2008-09 team also began its season 15-1 before losing its next game. The Eagles are running away with the KLAA West, improving to 9-0 in the division for a three-game lead over second-place Canton (7-3) in the loss column.
Hartland was able to win decisively while playing without star guard Parker Sundman. Logan Morrish had 14 points, John Eichburg 13, and Coen Chwalek and Zane King eight each for the Eagles.
Hartland led 10-7 after one quarter before breaking it open with a 20-6 second-quarter run.
Hartland will host Howell at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6.

Howell 61, Brighton 35
Speaking of streaks, Howell extended its string of consecutive victories to 12 while improving to 16-1 overall and 10-0 in the KLAA West.
Lilly Williams, one day after being selected to the McDonald’s All-American Game, had 17 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks for Howell. Gabby Piepho had 18 points, Hannah Ralko 11 and Lyla Valentine 10 for the Highlanders.
Gracyn Houck had nine points, while Anna Minnick and Kelly McKaig had seven each for Brighton (5-9).
Howell will visit second-place Hartland at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6.
Hartland 36, Plymouth 32
With a fifth consecutive victory, Hartland moved into sole possession of second place in the KLAA West at 6-3.
Kendall Nokovich and Reese Tucker had nine points each for the Eagles (9-5 overall). Brinley Neuer had eight points.
Girls bowling
Brighton 17, Plymouth 13
Avery Willim and Lillian Smiley each rolled 212 games for Brighton (10-3).
Boys bowling
Plymouth 19, Brighton 11
Jackson Alexander rolled a 215 and Bradley Schwab a 212 for Brighton (6-7).

Brighton scored a season-low 12 points to make it 6-for-6 winning Mt. Brighton meets this season. Brighton junior Payton Wedekemper has won all six races.
Brooke Petit was second, Kendall DeKeyser fourth, Ceci Pruski fifth and Maddy LaFontaine seventh for the Bulldogs. Charyl Stockwell’s Erin Carlson was 11th.
