Jameson Williams is having a great beginning to his 2025 Detroit Lions training camp. That’s been plainly obvious to everyone in Allen Park, from his coaches to the media to his teammates.
Williams, now wearing No. 1, has shown significant improvement in his attention to detail. Specifically, his footwork and timing in his route running have looked to be on a different level from prior years. Catching the ball cleanly with his hands seems second nature for Williams, too; two years ago, every throw was an adventure.

Both Lions who formally met with the media after Monday’s muggy practice gave “Jamo” rave reviews. Fellow wideout Tim Patrick brought up Williams unprompted as a player who is really standing out in camp.
“People looked at him as just a deep threat, but if you’ve been watching this camp, he’s ran every single route,” Patrick said. “I think most of his routes have been short routes … everybody knows what he can do in the deep game, but now he’s finding that short range and that’s going to make him impossible to stop.”
Routes like this one from Monday’s practice are not things many would have ever expected from Williams even a year ago. This is a fantastic route against very capable coverage from Rock Ya-Sin.
Defensive back Brian Branch summed it up very well.
