Gabby Reynolds, Nate Claerbaut earn college basketball honors; Overway, Alderink, Kuyers too

George Washington sophomore Gabby Reynolds has been selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Third Team.

The West Ottawa graduate and former Miss Basketball of Michigan improved in nearly every statistical category and metric compared to a year ago. Most notably, Reynolds averaged 14.0 ppg in the regular season, 11th-best in the A-10, and a step up from her 10.2 ppg average last year. Her efficiency from the floor also took a big leap, shooting 43.2% on field goal attempts (compared to 31.9% in 2024-25) and 35.0% on three-point attempts (up from 27.0% last season). She grabbed 4.3 rebounds a night, up one compared to her 3.4 rpg average last season, and finished the year at 81.5% from the free-throw line, eighth best in the A-10.

Where Reynolds truly excelled was her consistency this season. Across her 30 games played, she scored in double figures in 22 of them, including GW’s final 11 games of the regular season from Jan. 21 – Feb. 28. She reached 10+ points in 14 of the team’s 18 conference games and finished the season with 15 games of 15+ points, including a career-high 27 against Miami on Nov. 29. She was also consistent on the glass, grabbing five or more rebounds in 12 games, including 13 against La Salle in her first career double-double on Feb. 14.

Reynolds scored 26 points in a 61-58 WNIT second-round win over Southern Indiana on Monday, March 23. George Washington faces Loyola Chicago in the next round on Friday, March 27.

CMU’s Claerbaut earns MAC honor

Central Michigan senior center Nathan Claerbaut was named to the All-MAC Defensive Team.

A 7-foot, 230-pound center from Zeeland, Claerbaut joins Larry Austin, Jr. in 2019 and Anthony Pritchard in both 2024 and 2025 as the three players in program history to be selected to the MAC All-Defensive Team.

Claerbaut averaged 12.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.1 blocked shots per game in 31 games started and 29.4 minutes per game. His 64 blocked shots and 2.1 blocks per game lead the MAC in both categories and he currently ranks No. 20 in blocks and No. 22 in blocks per game at the NCAA Division I level. His school-record 11 blocked shots against Western Michigan on Feb. 21, 2026 tied for the most blocks in a game in NCAA Division I during the 2025-26 season. He also shot a team-high 57.7 percent (164-284) from the floor, which ranks No. 2 in the MAC and grabbed a team-high 57 offensive rebounds. Claerbaut finished the year with 23 double figure scoring games, two 20-point games, three double-figure rebounding games, one double-figure blocked shot game, and four double-doubles. He led the Chippewas in scoring six times and was the leading rebounder in 11 games.

Claerbaut transferred to Central Michigan after playing his first three years at Ferris State (2022-25). He concluded his four-year collegiate career with 750 points, 420 rebounds (149 offensive), 158 blocked shots, and a .580 field goal percentage (318-548) in 1832 minutes, 92 games and 62 total starts.

Overway is Regional Player of the Year, All-American

Calvin senior Jalen Overway was named D3hoops.com Region VII Co-Player of the Year as well as first team all-region. He was also selected as a first-team All-American.  Overway (Holland) won the honor after a stellar senior campaign in which he averaged 23.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 61.7 percent from the field. In his return to the court after missing the 2024-25 season due to injury, Overway was a D3hoops.com Preseason All-American and earned his third MIAA Most Valuable Player honor. A two-time All-American, this marks the third straight season (not including 2024-25) in which Overway has earned First Team All-Region from D3hoops.com and the second time he has been named Player of the Year in the region. Following his 2022-23 freshman season, Overway was named D3hoops.com Rookie of the Year. Along with his MIAA and D3hoops.com accolades, Overway was also a 2023-24 NABC All-American and District Player of the Year.

GVSU’s Alderink earns all-GLIAC

GVSU graduate forward Ethan Alderink (Holland) earned All-GLIAC first team honors. Alderink leads the Lakers in scoring averaging 13.5 points shooting 48% from the field and 40% from three. Alderink ranks second on the team grabbing 5.5 rebounds.

He has posted two double doubles this season in wins at Parkside and vs Roosevelt. Alderink has scored in double figures in 21 games this season and scored a career high 28 points in the home opening win against Lewis. In conference play, Alderink leads the Lakers just over 13 points and has grabbed six rebounds.

Zeeland West graduate earns defensive honor

Lansing Community College freshman Georgia Kuyers was named to the NJCAA Western Conference all-defensive team.

The Zeeland West graduate averaged 6.5 rebounds per game, 3.8 points and 1.6 steals per game.
