Fowlerville man dies after vehicle strikes tree in Livingston County

A local man was killed July 29 after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree in Howell Township, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched around 11:37 a.m. to a single-vehicle crash on Mason Road. Preliminary investigation showed the driver — 69, of Fowlerville — was westbound in a 2016 Dodge Caravan when he may have suffered a medical incident.

The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was taken by Livingston County EMS to U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he later died. The man wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, according to LCSO.

Police said speed and alcohol don’t appear to have been factors in the crash. The roadway was closed for about three hours for investigation and clean up.

The crash remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.
