Former MSU football linebacker returns from major injury for the Philadelphia Eagles

Ben VanSumeren made waves in his collegiate career transferring from Michigan to Michigan State, and although his collegiate career did not go as expected, VanSumeren has still found himself playing at the next level.

After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, VanSumeren was picked up by the Philadelphia Eagles, where he has spent the first two years of his career. In those two years he has played in 20 games, making two starts, and recording 16 tackles.

Midway through the 2024 year, VanSumeren was making the transition from defense to offense, lining up as a fullback in Nick Sirianni’s offense. Unfortunately, a torn ACL in November took away the rest of VanSumeren’s season, and he was forced to watch the Eagles win the Super Bowl from the sidelines.

Now, after a long road of recovering, VanSumeren is back and is gearing up for his full-time return to the field in 2025, participating in the team’s offseason training activities.

Look for the former Spartan to do big things in his return on the offensive side of the field in his professional career.
