Detroit Tigers bat boy Frankie Boyd named to American League All-Star team

The Detroit Tigers are sending another team member to the 2025 All-Star Game, but it might not be who you’d expect.

Tigers ball crew member Frankie Boyd has been voted to represent the American League at the All-Star Game, with the Philadelphia Phillies’ Adam Crognale voted to represent the National League. Boyd was one of four semifinalists on the ballot, with voting ending on Tuesday, July 8.

Tigers players like Riley Greene and Dillon Dingler have been advocating for Boyd’s inclusion in the All-Star Game, with Dingler calling him the “best bat boy in the league.”

The All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 15 (8 p.m. ET, Fox).

Four Tigers were recently named to the AL All-Star Team, with second baseman Gleyber Torres and outfielders Riley Greene and Javier Báez all named as starters. Tigers ace Tarik Skubal was also named to the All-Star Team, though it is unclear if he will be starting the game.

This is the first time the Tigers are sending four players to an All-Star Game since Miguel Cabrera, José Iglesias, J.D. Martinez and David Price represented Detroit at the 2015 All-Star Game in Cincinnati.

Though he won’t count among the four players heading to Atlanta, Tigers players might be happy to call Boyd their fifth All-Star this season.
