Chick-Fil-A set to open in spring in Royal Oak

Popular chicken chain Chick-fil-A is bringing its famed chicken sandwiches and other menu items to Royal Oak.

At the Woodward Corners complex, a Chick-fil-A is under construction in the spot formerly occupied by a Wahlburgers location. Wahlburgers, which shuttered in 2022, was the first tenant to open in 2019 at Woodward Corners development in Royal Oak.

According to Chick-fil-A, the Royal Oak location at 30955 Woodward Avenue opening is expected this spring. This location will not have a drive-thru.

Fast casual Chick-fil-A is known for its fried or grilled chicken sandwiches, waffle fries and special sauce. It’s also known for being closed on Sundays.

According to Chick-fil-A, its locally owned and operated locations created about 80 to 120 jobs in the area.

On Monday, Chick-fil-A launched its “Newstalgia” campaign honoring the chain’s 80 years in business. As part of the campaign, the Atlanta-based chain rolled out a collection of four “retro-style classic cups.”

Cup designs include looks from Chick-fil-A’s past and present, according to a news release, and are available for a limited time.

Across restaurants nationwide, 3,000 special Golden Fan Cups will be randomly dispersed for sale. Winners of those cups receive free Chick-fil-A for a year, while supplies last. You can also purchase Chick-fil-A’s four retro-inspired cup designs for $3.99 each while supplies last.

More than a year ago, Chick-fil-A announced plans to expand its Michigan footprint, adding 25-30 new locations and 2,500 jobs.
