EAST LANSING — A lot can happen in a round of golf, but the Charlevoix boys golf team has to like where they’re at after the opening round of the Division 4 state championships on Friday, June 5.
With Saturday’s 18 holes left to play, Charlevoix sits in second place by just a single stroke, firing off a 332 at Forest Akers West at Michigan State University in East Lansing.
It’s just a lone stroke behind Muskegon Western Michigan Christian’s 331.
Harbor Springs is also in fifth place after one round of play with a 345. McBain NMC and Hillsdale Academy are each in third and fourth respectively with a 340 and 341.
Charlevoix’s Bryce Boss sits in fourth place overall with a 77, followed by teammates Landen Whisler, 81; Joe Gaffney, 84; Maxwell Drenth, 90; and Keane Helstrom, 104.
For Harbor Springs, William Shepler leas with an 84; Colin Blanck, 84; Noah Marquardt, 86; Chase Lafaive, 91; and Vincent Alonzi, 91.
Alcona’s Giovanni Paluch leads all golfers with a 74.
The Rayders, Rams and the rest of the teams in Division 4 and all divisons of the state will wrap up the state championships on Saturday, June 6.
