Boys golf all-state: Okemos, DeWitt standouts honored

After finishing his high school career as a champion, Ian Masih has earned a place among the state’s top golfers.

The Okemos senior was named to the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association’s Super Team while being one of two golfers from Greater Lansing to earn all-state recognition.

Masih was one of eight golfers across all four divisions in the state named to the Super Team, which is headlined by Mr. Golf winner Michael Houtteman of Glen Lake. Masih finished as the medalist at the Division 1 state finals on June 7 at Michigan State.

DeWitt junior Justin Steinmann was the area all-state selection and earned honorable mention accolades in Division 2. Steinmann had an 18-hole average of 74.1 strokes and a nine-hole average of 34.8.
