Big Ten women's basketball tournament: Michigan State draws No. 7 seed

The Michigan State women’s basketball team will be the No. 7 seed for this week’s Big Ten tournament at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The Spartans tied for sixth with Maryland in the final Big Ten standings but lost the head-to-head matchup with the Terps.

MSU (22-7, 11-7 Big Ten) will open play in Indianapolis on Thursday, March 5 with a second-round matchup against either No. 10 seed Illinois or No. 15 seed Wisconsin. The game will take place at 6:30 p.m. to kick off the second session of games.

UCLA is the top seed for the tournament with Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota rounding out the other top seeds that each earned double byes into the quarterfinals on Friday, March 6.

The Spartans head into the tournament coming off a home loss to Ohio State on Sunday, March 1.
