A barn fire in Cottrellville Township was extinguished Monday, March 2, after multiple departments were called to the scene.
The fire was reported around 8 p.m. Monday. The Marine City Fire Authority, Tri‑Hospital EMS, St. Clair Fire Department, Clay Township Fire Department, Algonac Fire Department, Ira Fire Department and St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office all responded.
According to the Marine City Fire Authority, the fire consumed a barn in the 6400 block of Indian Trail. No injuries were reported, but the barn was a total loss, including several vehicles inside.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Greg Abbey, supervisor for Cottrellville Township, thanked the firefighters and other first responders in a message posted to Facebook.
“We are thankful to report that there were no injuries in tonight’s structure fire on Indian Trail,” Abbey wrote. “Our hearts go out to the family affected by this fire, and we are saddened that they are facing such a difficult loss.”
Abbey said there had been other similar structure fires in the past week and encouraged residents to be careful when using heating sources or any open flames.
