Apple Annie's in Roseville sets closing date for next month

Owners of a long-standing Roseville restaurant that is closing to make way for a gas station have announced a final service date.

Customers of Apple Annie’s Kitchen and Bakery at Gratiot and Martin knew the homespun diner would close at some point after the land was purchased for a new Sheetz location. Owners announced this week on social media that the last day will be June 15.

“We look forward to seeing all of your faces between now and then, as we also look forward to navigating our retirement and enjoying our family,” reads the post.

Apple Annie’s — which is known for serving a huge list of daily soups, breakfast, lunch, homestyle dinners, kids’ meals and a senior menu — has been part of the Roseville dining landscape since the late 1990s.

In February 2025, Sheetz agreed to purchase the Sacred Heart church and Apple Annie’s. The plan is to demolish both buildings and build a Sheetz gas station and convenience store.

The demolition of the church was met with resistance from community members who didn’t want to see the historic building demolished, but courts ruled in favor of the development deal going forward.

“With the closing date of the Sacred Heart property now set, it’s with a heavy heart that our family has decided our last say at the Apple will officially be Monday, June 15,” reads Apple Annie’s statement, which also thanked customers for “your continued love and patronage.”

Although members of some communities have voiced opposition citing noise, pollution and other factors, the Pennsylvania-based Sheetz plans to open 50 to 60 locations in southeast Michigan over the next several years.
