An annual premier event celebrating a 100% vegan lifestyle is back for another year of food sampling and education. VegFest is Sunday, June 7, at Eastern Market and is celebrating a milestone this year. VegMichigan, a local nonprofit organization, hosts the annual event now celebrating its 25th year.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. across sheds 5 and 6 at the market. Expect presentations and cooking demonstrations throughout the day, along with food sampling and information on the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.
Cooking demonstration highlights include these metro Detroit chefs:
Another highlight of the festival is the dozens of food vendors with samplings and food for purchase. Local restaurants Konjo Me, Street Beet, The Kitchen by Cooking with Que and Vedged Out! Vegan Eats and Vegano Italiano food carts/trucks are among the vendors. There will also be a selection of coffee, juices and drinks, food, and product shopping. Festivalgoers can expect a plethora of educational information and presentations from nutrition, health experts and others on the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.
Admission is free. For details and vendor information, go to vegmichigan.org.
