Commissioners unanimously approved an employment contract for incoming Adrian Administrator Chad Baugh on Sept. 2.
Baugh, selected by officials Aug. 18, is expected to begin work Sept. 22.
“I can’t wait to get in the community, working day-to-day to figure out how I can help facilitate the city’s business,” Baugh said. “This is an exceptional opportunity.”
Baugh, the outgoing director of police services for Canton Township, will be paid $150,363 annually, in addition to other perks and benefits outlined in his contract. The commission also agreed to a six-month severance package.
Baugh is taking office at a critical time, as Adrian looks to build a stronger economic outlook for nearly 21,000 residents. His first year in office will see the historic Sienna Heights University close. He’ll also need to tackle the aging Bohn Pool and the estimated $3 million needed for repairs.
Baugh was selected for his three decades of experience in the municipal sector and his management of a police force roughly the same size as Adrian’s municipal workforce.
