This is a recurring feature that highlights adoptable children in Michigan who are looking for permanent, loving homes.
While most 16-year-old girls have big hopes and dreams for their future, McKinzi’s big dreams take the shape of a horse. Chestnuts, bays, or dapple greys — if it has four hooves, a flowing mane, and neighs, McKinzi will love it. Currently, McKinzi is in foster care waiting for a forever family to adopt her; if that family happens to have horses and maybe even a big dog, then that’s all the better!
“Horses aren’t for everybody, but they’re for sure for me,” says McKinzi. She has tried trick riding, vaulting and show jumping in the past. Horses are simply a source of happiness and calm for McKinzi. Her interests extend beyond equines, however. She likes rap, dreams of traveling to Miami, enjoys TV shows such as Ginny and Georgia, and has a deep love for pizza.
“McKinzi is exuberant, entertaining, playful, friendly, grateful, silly, and goofy,” says an adult close to her. “She loves receiving attention and is very social with peers and adults.” McKinzi is open to lots of different family structures. As much as she loves horses, she knows they’re expensive to keep, so a farm with horses isn’t a requirement (but she’d love it if a family could support her interest in horses!). She is looking forward to spending time with her family doing things such as going to concerts or an indoor water park.
