You can join the Harbor Springs Chapter of the North Country Scenic Trail for a group hike at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 5.
The group will meet at Trailhead 6 and will be hiking section 6 south towards Levering Road for a total of 5.75 miles. The hike is described as going through “pine and hardwood forests, then along the edge of Wycamp Lake. It leaves Wilderness State Park, crosses Wycamp Dam and then through hardwoods.”

Admire local art
The Sault Area Art Center’s July gallery exhibit is currently on display. This month will feature “Natural Elements.”
According to the arts center, the exhibit draws its inspiration from “the ancient concept of the natural elements of earth, water, air, fire and ether … Over time, it has expanded to mean anything produced without human intervention including plants, animals and now the naturally occurring elements on the periodic table. No matter how you define them, natural elements exist all around us in the purity of nature and in the tension between the manufactured and the wild.”
The exhibit will be on display from July 1-30. The opening reception will be from 1-3 pm. on July 12.
