Experience the Odawa Homecoming Pow Wow
The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians will host their 33rd Annual Odawa Homecoming Pow Wow on Aug. 8 and 9.
The two-day celebration includes grand entry ceremonies, the Miss Odawa competition, drum and dance contests in multiple categories, food and crafts vendors, and more.
The event is open to the public and free to attend.

Explore Waterfront Art Fair
The Charlevoix Waterfront Art Fair is back on Saturday, Aug. 8.
Booths in East Park will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Waterfront Art Fair is the second oldest juried art fair in Michigan and has a wide selection of fine art for people to browse.

Find fun with foam
The Cheboygan Area Public Library’s Foam Party is set to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8 in Washington Park.
The event is free and open to all. The Foam Party also marks the end of the library’s Summer Reading Challenge, so be sure to report your reading by 5 p.m. on Aug. 7 to receive prizes.

Honor legacy of Jane Johnston Schoolcraft
Sault Ste. Marie celebrates the second Saturday in August as Jane Johnston Schoolcraft Day.
The day’s activities honor the life and heritage of Jane Bamewawagezhikaquay Johnston Schoolcraft. According to the Chippewa County Historical Society, Schoolcraft is recognized as the first Native American and first female Native American writer of the historical, oral and traditional stories and songs of the Anishinaabe Ojibwe people. The historical society will be hosting music, poetry and storytelling, family activities and more from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8 on the grounds of the historic Water Street near the Schoolcraft House.

Shop sidewalk sales
Multiple cities are hosting downtown sidewalk sales events this weekend.
For example, Gaylord, Boyne City and Harbor Springs will all be having their sales on Aug. 7 and 8.
