A four-year-old drowned in the area of Grand Beach Lake in Genoa Township on Aug. 8, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
The child, who was nonverbal and autistic, reportedly left her residence through a broken screen door and had been missing for an unknown amount of time. The child was found in approximately four feet of water after a roughly 90-minute search. She was transported to Trinity Health Medical Center of Brighton, where she was pronounced dead, according to LCSO.
Deputies were further assisted by the Southeast Michigan Dive Group, Livingston County EMS, the Michigan State Police and Lapeer County Search and Rescue.
The incident remains under investigation.
