Three people died in an adult foster care facility in Redford Township after fire broke out early Saturday.
The Redford Township Fire Department reported that two people in the facility were able to escape the home safely.
Fire crews encountered heavy smoke and active flames coming from the residence located at 15500 Woodbine, near Telegraph Road, according to a statement provided by Fire Chief Chris Mayes.
“Tragically, during search and suppression operations, firefighters located three deceased individuals inside the residence,” Mayes said.
Mayes said Sunday afternoon that no information is available to be released on the victims at this time. The ages and names of the victims were not yet disclosed.
The cause of the fire and where it started remain unknown. Local and state fire investigators are currently investigating to determine what happened.
The Redford Township Fire Department received assistance from the Livonia Fire Department and the Southfield Fire Department during the critical incident.
