LANSING — Police were investigating a pair of incidents Sunday, June 29 that sent three people to the hospital with gunshot wounds, including a 15-year-old boy.
Those incidents were among at least three shootings over the weekend, including the killing of a 26-year-old man early Saturday in the 3400 block of Beau Jardin Drive, near Jolly and Dunckel roads, just west of US 127.
The 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg on the night of June 29 in north Lansing, and Lansing police said they were looking for a suspect they believed to be around the same age.
Lansing police Sgt. Benjamin Perry said the shooting happened about 10:40 p.m. in the 700 block of West Willow Street, east of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Witnesses told officers a vehicle involved in the incident had left and police were able to locate the vehicle soon after.
The vehicle stopped at University of Michigan Health − Sparrow Lansing, and the wounded teen was inside. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, Perry said.
Perry said a preliminary investigation indicates the injured teen and the person who shot him were on foot when the shooting happened. There did not appear to be any threat to the public, he said. Police said no arrests had been made in connection with the incident.
The other shooting happened about 5:45 a.m. June 29 in the 5000 block of South Waverly Road, Lansing police said. Officers arrived to find two gunshot victims, including a man, 48, who suffered a graze wound to the neck. The second victim, a 49-year-old man, had a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Those injuries were not believed to be life-threatening injuries, police said.
A suspect was in custody, and an investigation was continuing, they said.
