Authorities are asking the public for help to find the suspect in a double shooting this week at a Pontiac apartment complex that left one person dead.
Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were called at about 10 p.m. Tuesday to an apartment complex in the 30 block of Candlelite Lane near Telegraph and West Kennett roads for a report of shots fired, according to investigators.
Deputies and medics arrived at the complex and found a 39-year-old Pontiac man outside of an apartment with a gunshot wound on his hand, police said.
They noticed the apartment’s storm door was shattered and saw multiple bullet holes around the front entrance, officials said.
Deputies entered the apartment and found a 53-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. First responders rendered aid until medics took him to a hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead, authorities said.
Investigators identified the deceased as Jethro Jackson, Jr., of Pontiac.
The wounded man was taken to a hospital, treated, and released, officials said.
Police began an investigation and found multiple spent shell casings outside the apartment.
Anyone with information about the incident or suspects should call the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at (248) 858-4950 or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
The incident unfolded the day after a man in his 50s was fatally shot in Indian Village on Detroit’s east side, police said.
The same day, a man was found fatally shot in a Hazel Park home, according to officials.
Also, an early Monday shooting at a short-term rental in Oak Park left two teens dead and two others wounded.
