BW Humane Society to host sale in Port Huron
The Blue Water Area Humane Society will host its annual Huge Blow Out Sale this Friday, Jan. 19 thru Sunday, Jan. 21. The sale, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day it is open, will be located at 4100 Griswold Road in Port Huron Township between Range and Michigan roads. Organizers note that they have more than 1,700 boxes of miscellaneous items for this sale. They also remind shoppers that they can no longer allow shopping carts, wagons or shopping bags of any kind, instead shopping baskets will be available along with a holding area for customer items. Payment with cash or checks only, and everything left on Sunday will be 1/2 price or shoppers are welcome to fill a brown bag for $5.

Michigan Senator Kevin Hertel will host a townhall in Clay Township on Jan. 29 from 10:30 a.m. until noon.

Paint your own Valentine’s Day Board
Create a Valentine’s Day Leaner board under the direction of local painter Janet DeMonte. The event is set for Thursday, Jan. 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Algonac VFW Hall. The cost is $38 per person with $5 back to veterans. Interested painters are asked to pre-register so enough supplies can be provided. Register at the Clay Township offices from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays thru Thursday, office closed each day from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch. Or put registration in Clay Township offices drop box noting the program you are registering or email Cindy Babisz at cbabisz@claytwpmi.gov or call (810)794-9320. A cash bar will be open at the VFW Hall during the event. The Algonac VFW Hall is located at 1005 Pte. Tremble Road.
Hertel to host town hall in Clay Township
State Sen. Kevin Hertel, D-St. Clair Shores, will host a Small Business Town Hall in Clay Township from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Monday, Jan. 29. All are invited to stop in and hear about opportunities for small business owners in the area. The event is free.
Special guests will include: Anchor Bay Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Small Business Administration of Michigan, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, Algonac Mayor Rocky Gillis and Clay Township Supervisor Artie Bryson. Clay Township Municipal Building, located at 4710 Pointe Tremble Road. The doors will open at 10 a.m.
Senator Hertel lives in St. Clair Shores and serves in the Michigan Capitol as the State Senator representing the people of Michigan’s 12th Senate District, which includes Algonac, Chesterfield Twp, Clay Twp, Clinton Twp (part), the Grosse Pointes, Harper Woods, Harrison Twp, Ira Twp, Mount Clemens, New Baltimore and St. Clair Shores.
