The comedy genius, Mel Brooks, adapts his legendarily funny film into a brilliant stage creation – Young Frankenstein! Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help and hinderance of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor, and a leggy lab assistant, Inga, Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors aiming to fulfill his grandfather’s legacy by bringing a corpse back to life. “It’s alive!” he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather’s. His experiment yields success and unexpected consequences. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity abounds.
Artistic Director, Brittany Everitt Smith directs and choreographs a talented cast of 14 including Joel Frazee as Frederick Frankenstein, Adam Sanborn as The Monster, Lauren Riggs as Inga, Evan Houdek as Igor, Kaila Szafranski as Elizabeth, and Terri Turpin-Amato as Fraü Blucher. One of the most iconic moments of the film is when the Monster and Frederick sing a duet of “Puttin on the Ritz” to demonstrate to the villagers how high functioning the Monster is. In the musical, this song develops into a full-blown production number! Other hilarious titles Music Directed by Stephanie Graham include, “Please Don’t Touch Me”, “He Vas my Boyfriend”, “Transylvania Mania”, and “Deep Love”. This over-the-top musical comedy is full of inuendo, fantastic one-liners, physical comedy, funny gags, and all things creepy – it is sure to be a memorable night out!
