Port Huron, MI – Lake Huron Medical Center (LHMC) is pleased to announce their 2023 Employee of the Year and 2023 Department of the Year winners!! LHMC is honored to have a strong team of staff and volunteers working hard to deliver high-quality care to the Blue Water Area and beyond. LHMC celebrated their employees and departments by holding a Tea Party with delicious treats and refreshments to announce the nominees and winners in each category.
Employee of the Year 2023 was awarded to Margaret Jarvis, Wound Care, RN who has been part of the LHMC family since April 2020. She was nominated by a fellow employee who stated “Margaret always goes above and beyond to help her patients and the hospital family out. Besides providing amazing wound care for her inpatients, she will take on the role of patient tech and will give patients a complete bed bath and change their linens. She takes the time to feed a patient who is a one-on-one feed. She stops whatever task she’s in the middle of to help out a fellow coworker from ANY department to achieve excellence in patient care! In the exact words of two different patients “Margaret, you sure do take good care of your patients!” and “She (Margaret) is absolutely splendid and such a blessing!” Add to that, she also helps out in the outpatient wound clinic when needed. We are thankful to have her in our LHMC family and think most everyone that knows her would agree!”.
Department of the Year for 2023 was voted on by all employees at LHMC and this coveted award was granted to Rehabilitation Services led by Director, Debra Miller, PT, RN. The Rehabilitation Services Department offers services throughout Saint Clair County with several locations to best serve the community. LHMC’s main hospital located at 2601 Electric Ave, Port Huron offers Adult and Pediatric Physical Therapy, Occupational, Speech & Language Therapy and is the only Inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Center in St. Clair County. This location treats a wide variety of conditions and specializes in treatments like Cancer Related Fatigue, Lymphedema Therapy and Stroke Rehabilitation, just to name a few. At LHMC’s North Campus location in Fort Gratiot, Rehabilitation Services offer Orthopedic, Neurological, Cardiac Rehabilitation and most other adult rehab needs. And the newest LHMC facility on Gratiot in Marysville specializes in Orthopedic and Neurological Rehabilitation, athletic injury recovery and many other services. This amazing team is comprised of highly qualified, licensed, and certified therapists who work together with your physician to develop and accomplish a comprehensive treatment plan specifically tailored to the patient’s needs.
