By The St. Clair County Health Department
The St. Clair County Health Department (SCCHD) is helping families prepare for the new school year by offering free vision, hearing, and oral health screenings for St. Clair County children entering preschool or kindergarten in Fall 2026. These screenings help identify potential concerns early, giving children the best opportunity to begin school healthy, confident, and ready to learn.
Vision and Hearing Screenings
Free vision and hearing screenings will be offered August 25 through September 10, 2026, at the St. Clair County Health Department, 220 Fort Street in Port Huron.
Appointments can be scheduled online at https://ph-stclair.as.me/hearingandvision2026 or by calling (810) 987-5300, ext. 1474. Families who are unable to attend during the August–September screening period may schedule an appointment on the first Wednesday of each month, October through June.
Because children do not always recognize or communicate that they are having trouble seeing or hearing, screenings can identify concerns before they affect learning, communication, or development. Early detection allows for timely treatment and helps ensure children are ready to succeed in the classroom.
Oral Health Screenings
SCCHD is also partnering with Smiles on Wheels to offer free oral health screenings for St. Clair County children entering preschool or kindergarten in Fall 2026.
Oral health screenings will be available at the St. Clair County Health Department on:
- August 27, 2026
- September 1, 2026
- September 2, 2026
- September 3, 2026
Appointments can be scheduled online at https://ph-stclair.as.me/OralHealth.
