By The St. Clair County Health Department
The St. Clair County Health Department (SCCHD) has completed a series of renovations to the Teen Health clinic located on the campus of Port Huron High School. The updates provide students with a more modern, comfortable, and youth-centered health space designed to promote overall well-being. The renovation project was made possible through a $250,000 grant from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
The project, completed over the summer break, was a collaborative effort between SCCHD and Port Huron Area School District. Despite a tight construction timeline, the planning, demolition, and installation phases were largely finished before students returned this fall.

Key Improvements
- Modern Medical Equipment: Updated tools were added to exam rooms to support the clinic’s continued delivery of high-quality care.
- Updated Facilities: Newly installed hygienic cabinetry, countertops, and sinks improve cleanliness and functionality. Additional upgrades include a new hot water tank and gutter work.
- Enhanced Comfort and Design: New vinyl plank flooring, carpeting, blinds, and waiting area furniture help create a welcoming, teen-friendly environment.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Port Huron Area School District on these important improvements,” said Amy Bishop, Nursing and Community Health Director for the St. Clair County Health Department. “The renovated Teen Health clinic offers students a more comfortable, supportive space to access the care they need right on campus. We also want families to know that Teen Health serves anyone ages 10–21, and that parent or guardian consent is required for patients 17 and under.”
Open House Event
To celebrate the renovations, the Teen Health clinic will host a public open house on Monday, December 15 from 1–6 p.m. The clinic is located in a separate building on the Port Huron High School campus off 20th Street, next to Phoenix Academy. Light snacks, refreshments, facility tours, and opportunities to meet staff will be available.
