CityFlatsHotel Port Huron is proud to share that its coffee shop and eatery, CitySide Café, is now serving exclusively Plum Nugget Coffee.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Plum Nugget Coffee to bring their coffee to CitySide Café,” said Melissa Shafran, General Manager of CityFlatsHotel Port Huron. “This collaboration allows us to promote a Blue Water Area business while offering a high-quality, distinctive product that enhances the experience for everyone who visits our cafe.”
A roasting company based out of Greenwood Township, some of Plum Nugget Coffee’s most notable products that will be available at the cafe include:
- Sunshine in a Cup, a medium roast coffee with flavor notes such as green apple, cocoa
nibs, clementine, raisin, and roasted almond. - DAMN, a house blend with caramel and nutty undertones.
- Eye Opener, a dark roast blend with notes of spice and butterscotch.
“What intrigued me about our coffee coming to CitySide Café is the opportunity to support a local business,” said Jeff Friedland, owner of Plum Nugget Coffee. “If I get more customers, fine, but if people come in and say, ‘Wow, I like your coffee,’ they’ll come back and do more business here.”
Friedland started this endeavor as a hobby around seven years ago after a 30-year career in emergency services for St. Clair County, preceded by a decade as a firefighter and fire instructor for the county.
Since retiring, Friedland and Plum Nugget Coffee have been a frequent presence at local farmers markets and is a true family endeavor. Friedland’s wife, Patti, and their children actively contribute to the business offering support with product development, design, or marketing.
Friedland expressed enthusiasm about this new partnership with CitySide Café, marking a new chapter which will allow him more time with his family.
