This concert will feature a new format, with small ensembles performing in the first half, followed by music themed around America. These selections are intended for the Mid-Europe Wind Band Festival in Schladming, Austria, scheduled for July.

The program includes several notable pieces. Robert Jager’s “Esprit de Corps” is a tribute to the Marine Corps. Frank Ticheli’s “Shenandoah” is a well-known folk song, while Julie Giroux’s “The Grace in Being” offers an atmospheric experience. Gavin Lendt’s “Mesa Dances” captures the essence of the southwest. Dwayne S. Milburn’s “American Hymnsong Suite” features a mix of chant-line music and contemporary harmonies. Robert Sheldon’s “Choreography” draws inspiration from dance movements in various performances. The concert will also include familiar works such as George Kenny’s “Coat of Arms” and H. Owen Reed’s “The Heart of the Morn.”

Now in its 38th season, the Cereal City Concert Band is conducted by Stephen White, with Amanda Burdette as assistant conductor.

Tickets will be available at the door for $10 for adults and $5 for students, seniors ages 65 and older, and veterans. Advance tickets can be purchased online at cerealcityconcertband.org/schedule/ or on Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/4hPzGDN.
