(Lexington, MI – April 13, 2025) The Blue Water Folk Society (BWFS) is pleased to announce the success of their 60’s Concert Fundraiser to support Thumbfest, which took place on April 12 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lexington. Thumbfest is a free, day-long music festival held on the streets of downtown Lexington on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend each year. All funds raised from the event will be used to cover the $20,000+ cost of the music festival.
The fundraising event, which included performances from three bands playing music from the 60’s, brought together about 100 attendees, including Mary Glidden, a part-time Lexington area resident offering matching funds up to $10,000. Attendees donated nearly $3000, which added to previous donations, bringing the group’s total to $5677.55, better than halfway to their goal of raising $10,000.
“Thumbfest 2024 was a rough year for our small nonprofit, as we lost nearly $9000 on the event. We were very uncertain if Thumbfest, in its 23rd year, could continue. We are very grateful to our supporters who stepped up to make certain it would and especially to Mary for this wonderful matching funds opportunity. Mary has offered to continue to match funds through the end of the month or until we reach our $10,000 goal,” notes Marty Malek, Thumbfest 2025 Festival Director.
All donations received this month will qualify for matching funds. Those unable to attend the fundraiser, but still wishing to help make the music happen, can donate in the following ways:
