Admire Spring Wildflowers in Bloom!

By The St. Clair County Parks and Recreation

Join local naturalist Mary Kay Weber to explore the woodland wildflowers of the rustic and rolling Columbus County Park on Saturday, May 2, from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Meet in front of the Lodge. Immediately following the guided walk, a native plant sale will be held in the pavilion attached to the Lodge from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. You may purchase plants on the day of the event or pre-order at www.WildGingerWoodlands.com. Wild Ginger Woodlands accepts cash, checks, and credit cards at the sale.

During the free guided walk beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Lodge, learn the secrets of spring ephemeral flowers and the habitats that harbor them. Ants, bees, and small mammals rely on these early bloomers for food and shelter, and photographers and plant lovers find them fascinating. Mary Kay Weber, naturalist and leader of the walk, said, “Columbus County Park is loaded with spring wildflowers along its wooded trails. I am excited to show them off and that people will be able to purchase some of these beauties after seeing them in their natural habitat.” All ages and abilities are welcome at this free and family-friendly event. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. To register, contact Kirsten Lyons, klyons@stclaircounty.org, (810) 989-6317.
