SAO PAULO, April 28 (Reuters) – Brazil’s central bank said on Tuesday that director Rodrigo Alves Teixeira will not attend this week’s monetary policy meeting due to the passing of a relative.
Teixeira’s absence means only six board members will vote on the country’s next interest rate decision, scheduled to be unveiled on Wednesday.
Brazil’s monetary policy committee typically has nine members, but President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva still has two pending nominations after the terms of former directors Diogo Guillen and Renato Gomes expired in December, leaving their seats vacant.
