BUENOS AIRES, Aug 13 (Reuters) – Argentina’s monthly inflation rate was 2.1% in July, slightly above the level recorded in June, while the 12-month figure also slightly sped up, data from national statistics agency INDEC showed on Thursday.
July’s inflation rate was up from 1.9% registered in June and was slightly higher than analyst expectations of 2%.
In the 12 months through July prices rose 33.8%, climbing from the previous month’s rate of 33.5%.
Recreation and culture saw the largest price increases, driven by more expensive holiday packages during Argentina’s winter holidays, followed by restaurants and hotels. Clothing and footwear prices fell slightly.
On Tuesday, a Reuters poll on July inflation data showed analysts considered that disinflation remains gradual in the South American nation.
Argentina’s central bank projects inflation to end the year at 29.8%, with the economy growing 2.7%.
