To “Walk by Faith” means we trust God has a plan for our life. He is allowing us to be used for His purpose. We lay down our will and take on God’s design for our life. It may not be what we expected or anticipated, but we do know we are doing God’s will. We are figuring life out through a lens of faith. Scripture, fellowship and a strong relationship with Christ is at the core of our faith, it’s the cornerstone.
Living the life of faith means there will be unbelievable uncertainty. But this is the place we learn to trust. God is at the center of everything we do. We trust the wisdom and the discernment of God and not on our own understanding.
May our lives demonstrate that we take leaps of faith. That we pursue Christ in a way that doesn’t make sense. If it doesn’t make sense, it means I’m working strongly with Christ because I’m doing things through a lens of faith rather than safe, sound, and secure. And though I love safe and secure, it’s not the place of faith, faith is putting yourself out there, being beyond bold for Christ. It’s connecting to people all the time.
“Walking by Faith” (2 Corinthians 5:7) might be my favorite Bible verse. It means I don’t know what’s ahead of me, but I know God needs to be a big part of the walk. I need to be strongly “connected to the vine.” (John 15:2)
“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” (2 Corinthians 4:18)
We simply don’t know what’s around the corner, yet faith tells us to trust God, even in the trying times. That He’s working it out. That hope is in front of us. “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1 )
Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists, and is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek him.” How’s your faith? Do you trust Him in all circumstances? Have you gone through a dark season?
What light do you follow? “You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.” (Psalm 18:28) At times it gets dark, sometimes it seasons, sometimes it’s days, sometimes it’s in the evening, but we count on Christ to come alongside us, to brighten the path, to give hope for the future.
Walking by faith allows us to give God a chance to do more than “we could ask, think, or imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20) I wonder what God has in store. It’s like signing the contract that you’re all in for Christ and then later on Christ fills in the contract. Trust is a big part of the Christian walk. We have to learn to trust him.
We have to trust Him with our life. We have to trust Him with our children. Trust Him with our finances. Trust Him with our health. Two verses come to mind; Proverbs 19:21, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” and Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” In other words, like it or not, God is in charge.
Walking by Faith means I believe, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5) I’ve walked the walk of difficult times many times, but God‘s with me. Peace always comes in the morning. Had many sleepless nights, but through it all God’s joy can also be found, so we keep walking forward, putting our faith in Christ to the forefront.
Psalm 23 remind us how God walks with us, guides us, leads us, restores us, and simply won’t leave our side. “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he LEADS me beside quiet waters, he REFRESHES my soul. He GUIDES me along the right paths for his name’s sake, Even though I WALK THROUGH the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are WITH ME; your rod and your staff, they COMFORT me. You PREPARE a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You ANOINT my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your GOODNESS and LOVE will follow me all the days of my life, and I will DWELL in the house of the Lord forever.”
