Thelma Castillo, President & CEO of the Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce speaks with Emily & Steven Goudy about their organization, Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer.
Eleven years ago Emily and Steven Goudy started “Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer” when a family friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. It started with a calendar and soon it grew to an additional 5K Run / 2 Mile Walk.
“Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer” raises funds to help cancer patients for all three hospitals in St. Clair County. During the past eleven years, they have raised over $60,000. Emily & Steven also host their Badges & Bra’s fundraiser where male first responders put on a unique bra made just for the event and dance to raise more funds for breast cancer. Badges & Bra’s 2021 will take place on June 9th at St. Clair Golf Club as an outdoor event.
Emily Goudy is the Executive Director of “Taking a Shot at Breast Cancer” and Steven Goudy is the President & Chair for the Board of Directors. Emily is also a photographer and enjoys capturing their signature photo for the calendar, the Annual Human Ribbon, which is a giant breast cancer ribbon with people staged & dressed in all pink to show their support for breast cancer awareness.
