New York Giants wide receiver Darnell Mooney was sidelined for this weekend’s preseason victory over the Miami Dolphins with an excused absence.
Mooney is healthy despite missing Saturday’s contest. Giants head coach John Harbaugh gave the veteran permission to miss the game for his brother’s wedding, as Mooney served as the best man.
Mooney signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Giants in March. The route runner totaled 1,435 yards and six touchdowns across his final two seasons with the Falcons and could emerge as a consistent, reliable target for Jaxson Dart moving forward.
The Giants defeated the Dolphins on the road, 26-3, despite Mooney’s absence. He is expected to be available for New York’s final preseason game against the New York Jets next weekend.
