USC football hires Trovon Reed as cornerbacks coach

On Tuesday, USC made the latest addition to its 2025 defensive staff. As of this afternoon, the Trojans have officially hired Trovon Reed as their cornerbacks coach. Reed comes to USC from UCF, where he served in the same role.

“Trovon Reed is another fantastic addition to our staff,” USC head coach Lincoln Riley said in a statement. “A rising star in our business, Reed is a talented coach with NFL playing experience. He’s an exceptional recruiter who will surely contribute to our climb as a program. We’re excited to welcome him to USC.”

With the Knights this past season, Reed was the only cornerbacks coach in the country to coach two Senior Bowl participants in Mac McWilliams and Brandon Adams.

Reed played at Auburn from 2010-2014, helping the Tigers win a national championship and play for another. He played wide receiver for his first four years on campus, before switching to cornerback for his final season.

After bouncing around various NFL rosters and practice squads for several seasons, Reed returned to his alma mater in 2021 as a recruiting/player relations staffer. The 2024 season was his first one as an on-field coach.

The addition of Reed will not affect the status of Doug Belk, who will remain on staff as secondary coach.
