Following the closure of Siena Heights University in June, a committee guiding the future of the campus is officially seeking proposals in Adrian.
Siena Heights completed what leaders described as an honorable closure at the end of May, graduating 731 students in 2025-26. The Phoenix Committee is exploring long-term uses for the campus, including buildings, facilities and educational programs that align with the mission and values of the school and the Adrian Dominican Sisters.
The committee has engaged global commercial real estate firm JLL to assist with local and national outreach efforts. All proposals will be reviewed by JLL and the Phoenix Committee. Leadership finalizes academic program transfers
In June, officials finalized agreements transferring 11 academic programs to partner institutions to provide continuity for students and preserve key academic offerings.
Under those agreements, criminal justice, social work and healthcare leadership programs will transfer to Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. SHU Global Programs, including accounting, applied science, business administration, management, marketing and multidisciplinary studies, will transfer to Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida.
The school’s nursing programs, including pre-licensure, RN-to-BSN and master’s degree offerings, will transfer to Cleary University in Howell.
Siena Heights will provide each partner institution access to program requirements, course descriptions and learning outcomes. The organizations will be permitted to use the school’s name and logo when promoting the designated programs.
SHU’s unused nursing program medical supplies — including bandages, gauze, tape, antiseptic wipes, syringes, sterile gloves and trach suctioning kits — were shipped to aid earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela.
