Anyone who’s ever wanted to learn more about eagles, hawks and other birds of prey will have that opportunity Saturday, Aug. 15, when the Eldridge Park Carousel Preservation Society presents a birds of prey wildlife show as part of its Family Fun Saturday series.
The show will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Eldridge Park in Elmira, and will include raptors provided by the Hawk Creek Wildlife Center, a wildlife rehabilitation organization in Western New York.
Part of the center’s mission is educational outreach, and the birds of prey show is annually one of the top attractions at the New York State Fair, according to Eldridge Park Carousel Preservation Society President Michael “Robby” Robertson.
“Folks will be able to get up close looks at the birds they bring, learn about them, and best of all get to see them fly,” Robertson said. “I’ve never seen them, but I’m told it’s a really remarkable and educational event.”
