River District Hospital in East China Township will be ending some services starting Aug. 31, according to a Henry Ford Health spokesperson.
“After careful consideration, we will soon be making some changes to the operations at our River District Hospital in St. Clair County,” a Henry Ford Health spokesperson said in a statement provided to the Times Herald.
“The facility – and the people within – have provided countless families with the very best in care for decades. But the building itself currently requires substantial infrastructure repairs and modernization to continue operating, and investing in the building is not a sustainable long-term solution for providing the safe, high-quality care our patients deserve.
“Because of that, we are consolidating inpatient care, emergency department and hospital-based services to other nearby Henry Ford Health facilities. Primary care practices, infusion services and some administrative services on the River District campus will remain, and patients will continue to have access to labs, pharmacy and imaging through nearby Henry Ford locations.
“We are committed to supporting everyone through this transition, including helping patients identify care options at nearby Henry Ford Health locations and connecting any impacted team members with opportunities across our health system.
“Patients will receive information and resources in the coming weeks to help ensure a smooth transition, as we remain committed to caring for and supporting St. Clair County for years to come.”
About 60 people work at River District, according to the spokesperson.
