Pensacola News Journal reporter Jim Little sat down with each of the candidates in the Pensacola mayor race to discuss the issues they intend to focus on if elected.
While the mayor race is nonpartisan and open to all Pensacola registered voters, the race attracted the most diverse set of candidates the position has boasted in recent years and the candidates’ platforms vary greatly.
Incumbent Mayor D.C. Reeves is being challenged by Jasmine Brown, Ann Hill, Alicia Trawick, Eric Shorter and Jermaine Williams. Ann Hill declined to participate in a video interview.
The first round of voting is during Primary on Aug. 18. The City Charter says if a single candidate gets more than 50% of the vote they win the seat outright. If no one gains more than 50%, the top two vote-getters will face off in the general election on Nov. 3.
