The Florida Gators will start fall camp with a light injury report, head coach Jon Sumrall revealed. Senior right end Jaylen Jordon and freshman safety Kaiden Hall will be the only two players not on the field practicing when they begin on Wednesday.
Jordan’s injury is undisclosed but considered minor according to Sumrall, and Hall is dealing with a soft-tissue ailment that is sidelining him to start fall camp, but will run to test his injury limits
With no spring transfer portal options available, Florida took an unconventional approach, signing Jordon, a former Jacksonville University basketball player.
Though he hasn’t played football since high school, Jordon impressed during Florida’s Pro Day with a 32-inch vertical and 10-foot broad jump at nearly 6-foot-6-inches and 237 pounds.
Hall signed with Florida as a three-star safety this offseason after racking up 129 tackles, including 11 for loss, four interceptions, and two defended passes over 29 high school games. He also took snaps under center, passing for 638 yards and four touchdowns, and rushing for 959 yards and 17 touchdowns. Hall was doing it all at the prep level, catching 31 passes for 494 yards and two touchdowns as well.
Also to note, redshirt junior cornerback Dijon Johnson underwent his second procedure on a meniscus tear to end his 2025 season in September but is fully expected to practice on Wednesday, though his reps will be limited as he works his way back.
Johnson will bring a lot of experience when he returns to the secondary, recording 37 tackles including two for loss, one interception, four defended passes and one fumble recovery throughout the course of 29 games including nine starts
Additionally, redshirt sophomore offensive tackle Fletcher Westphal, who missed the entirety of last season and did not participate in spring ball due to wrist and hip surgeries, will be a full participant during fall camp.
Westphal played in four games during his first season at Florida in 2024. Wesphal, a 6-foot-8-inch offensive tackle, was a top-150 recruit during the 2024 recruiting cycle. Wesphal received a pass block grade of 80.2, an offense grade of 75.7 and a run block grade of 72.3, according to Pro Football Focus.
With questions on the offensive line, he is expected to compete at left tackle during fall camp. Westphal is expected to compete at left tackle during Florida’s fall training camp, as the Gators look to identify starters at each bookend position across the offensive line.
