The University of Cincinnati has released a timeline and rendering of a new campus STEM Academic Facility.
Earlier this spring, university board of trustees approved $30.3 million for the first phase of construction, which is slated to rise on the site of the iconic Crosley Tower. The 16-story Brutalist building has been under demolition since February and should be gone by 2027.
According to a July 30 press release, the 200,000-square-foot STEM facility will serve as a centralized research and academic hub for the university’s STEM disciplines. It will include state-of-the-art lab space, studios, teaching classrooms and study spaces for students within UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science and the College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college by enrollment.
Site work is expected to begin early next year after Crosley Tower is fully razed. Construction could wrap up in 2029.
