Dublin City School District Superintendent John Marschhausen unveiled the district’s new high school, middle school and elementary school district boundaries June 29 as dozens of parents and community members packed school board meeting.
The unveiling was a major milestone in the district’s redistricting efforts, which began in September before they were paused in October after community backlash.
The new maps are final and will take effect for the 2027-2028 school year. The school board did not vote on the final maps, but they did vote on guidelines for the redistricting process in May.
What’s in the new maps?
The new high school maps move a swathe of land just east of Jerome High School to Coffman High School’s boundaries, and a chunk of land at the southern edge of the district from Coffman High School to Scioto High School. No Jerome High School land was redistricted to Scioto High School, as a group of protesters and community activists feared.
Students in grades 9-11 during the 2026-2027 school year will be allowed to remain at their previous school when the new maps take effect, if they so choose. The district will not provide high schoolers who attend a different school than the one they are assigned with transportation, according to the district’s redistricting web page.
The district made very few changes to its middle school maps, moving a small area in northwest Dublin from Eversole Run Middle School to Grizzell Middle School, and redistricting a small sliver of land in the southern half of the district from Sells Middle School to Davis Middle School. No students currently live in the southern sliver because it includes an age-restricted community, Marschhausen said.
Marschhausen expects the high school and middle school boundaries to last at least ten years, he said.
The district made several changes to its northern elementary schools’ boundaries, while leaving its southern boundaries untouched. Almost half of the land previously districted to Abraham Depp Elementary School will move to Eli Pinney Elementary School, while another small square of previously Depp Elementary School land will go to Glacier Ridge Elementary School. Students who live in the southeastern edge of Glacier Ridge’s previous boundaries will now go to Bishop Elementary School.
Deer Run Elementary School’s boundaries are expanding, taking in a chunk of land just east of the school that used to send students to Pinney Elementary School. The southern half of Deer Run’s boundaries are being moved to Wyandot Elementary School along with a small square of Bailey Elementary School land. Finally, a sliver of Pinney Elementary School land along the Scioto River will move to Bailey Elementary School.
The elementary maps will likely only last around three to five years, Marschhausen said.
Elementary and middle school students are required to attend their new schools once the boundaries take effect, according to the district.
